Nothing included in the following information should be mistaken as legal advice. Whitewright Municipal Court cannot advise you in handling your citation.

Entering a Plea
In order to proceed with processing your citation, you MUST first enter a plea. The plea options available are as follows:

Plea of Nolo Contendere
I have been informed of my right to a jury trial, and that my signature on the plea of nolo contendere (meaning “no contest”) will have the same force and effect a plea of guilty on the judgment of the Court. I do hereby plead nolo contendere to the said offense as charged, waive my right to a jury trial or hearing by the Court, and agree to pay the fine and cost the judge assesses. I understand that payment of the fine and cost constitutes satisfaction of the judgment and waiver of the right to appeal. I understand that my plea may result in a conviction appearing on either a criminal record or a driver’s license record.

Plea of Guilty
I understand that I have a right to a jury trial. I do hereby plead guilty to the offense as charged, waive my right to a jury trial or hearing by the Court, and agree to pay the fine and costs the judge assesses. I understand that payment of the fine and costs constitutes satisfaction of the judgment and waiver of the right to appeal. I understand that my pleas may result in a conviction appearing on either a criminal record or a driver’s license record.

Plea of Not Guilty
I plead not guilty. I want a Judge trial, or I want a Jury trial.

Warrant Information
If your citation is in warrant status:

Warrants are not cleared, nor the hold on a driver’s license released until the payment amount owed on the warrant is paid in full. Payment plans require a minimum of half (50%) of the amount due as the first payment. Payment plans are not available for Capias Pro Fine warrants without an appearance before the court. Personal checks will not be accepted as payment for a warrant. Payment can be made online or over the phone through TrafficPayment.com. Whitewright City Hall will accept payment for a warrant in the form of cash, credit/debit card, or money order. You may also drop a money order in the night drop slot located in the front door of City Hall.

Court Ordered Community Service Work
The City of Whitewright does accept Court ordered community service volunteers on a limited basis as work is available and a need is present. Each applicant must provide City Hall with a copy of their court order detailing how many hours have been ordered, and for what offenses hours were assigned. The applicant much also sign an agreement detailing the rules and regulations of our program. This must be done in person at City Hall.

Call 903-364-2219 for additional information.
